Artist’s Statement- Plastic or Silicon

Through my work I engage the audience with an alternative to virtual interaction. It is a critical commentary on the overwhelming presence of computer automation in our lives. Despite the computer’s ominipresence, it is vital to take time away from the screen and experience life.

All of the pictures were made with either a Toy Camera, or for the small squares, an iphone app that mimics a Toy Camera. The images were produced by the interaction of light with a photosensitive material. No additional materials were added or combined once the image was created.

Step away from the screen. Touch the cameras, look through the viewfinder, snap a picture if you like. Wind to the next frame, or don’t. It’s all about the experience.
